Sunday Reader 9.3.23.: Taking Time Edition
Saying what you have to say when you have something to say. Or something.
Good Morning,
So…how’s life with The Little back in school, Nick? Well, I’ve completely rewired two of my guitars during the week and played more guitar over a few days than I probably have over the past couple years.
The combination of the extra free time and continuing to adjust to my new meds has put me in a place where I’m taking care of That Which Needs To Be Done without the procrastination or despair I’d gotten used to over the past 35 years or so. Which goes a long way toward being able to take advantage of the time I have to, say, play guitar or do some maintenance on my gear without the nagging thoughts chiding me for spending time on other things when there are Things That Need To Be Done. Long story short: I’m enjoying myself a little more these days.
Which leads to skipping last week’s Reader and not having all that much to talk about for this week, if I’m honest. I’ve been spending a lot more time doing, rather than reading or viewing. That’s okay, but it leaves me occasionally without much or anything to talk about here, so I don’t.
My recommendations this week are to carve out some time to do the thing you enjoy doing, and — wait for it — enjoy it. Does you a world of good. Also, the audiobook version of George Saunders’ Lincoln in the Bardo. I raved about this in the old work newsletter a couple years back, I think, but I listened to it again recently for the hell of it and it’s just a wonderful piece with a Murderer’s Row of a voice cast.
It’s late Saturday night, and I’m heading off to bed. Hope everyone has a great long weekend.
Until next time.
